Mrs. Luken Essay Analysis

  • The author starts of with stating what made her get to the place where she is today.
  • At the end of the first paragraph she starts the chronological flow of her story, first by telling us about her childhood memories with her father on their bike rides, then about high school, later about college endeavors, and finally where she is now.
  • Lots of vivid language "I read vociferously, and I loved being told stories.", "My brothers, my dad and I would visit the library at least once a week, and more often in the summer when we were out of school.", " Some daughters inherit a certain amount of money from their fathers, some inherit a car or a house, others inherit jewelry. My father will never have much money or a nice car or many material goods at all. I have, however revived something from him that will last my while life and will continue to me joy as long as I live. He has passed on to me his love of language and literature."
  • Focuses on criticism but always remembers her fathers advice, that she is an amazing author.
  • Last paragraph ties it all together because she re-states the poem from the beginning.
