Thinking and Acting Rhetorically

What is my definition of rhetoric? In my own words the definition of rhetoric means is using writing techniques, language, and structure as a tool to make a topic seem more appealing or to persuade an audience. What is the definition of 'thinking and acting rhetorically'? Thinking and acting rhetorically means to put yourself in the shoes of the audience and realize whats important to them, what they want to hear, and what captures their attention, then use the information about the audience to bring a point across to the audience you were observing. You have to do this for ever job because you are always trying to make yourself look more appealing to the world, in return demand goes up, and so does your profit. The world is full of Rhetorical Thinkers trying to beat the competition next to them. As the world progresses so does the process of thinking rhetorically, it might not be changing dramatically but every now and then there is a new tool or technique that someone has found out that captivates a persons mind.  As Susan Miller said 'To act and think rhetorically you need to understand how language works', Once you understand how language works then you work hard to understand how to convey your ideas through writing.

  1. I like your definition of rhetoric and how you related it back to "walking a mile in another's shoes."
